Wood working in the arts and handicrafts course in primary school is considered to be a basis for the wood working course of technology education in junior high school. It occupies a very important position in a consistent primary and secondary school. It is of overriding importance today that we settle the basis for the execution of technology education in primary schools in Japan. For that purpose we sent a questionnaire to fifth and sixth grade teachers who were teaching the arts and handicrafts courses in Okinawa. The contents of the questionnaire survey were wood working tools andmachines in a workshop, subject matter and products in the arts and handicrafts, and educational awareness and technical skill of the teachers. And we also made up the tentative plan of wood working curriculum in primary school, which was examined in the questionnaire survey.
