This study investigated characteristics of social disorders in children with high-functioning autism. Subject was a boy with high-functioning autism. His joint attention behaviors, which emerged in play situation with specific other, were recorded from 4:06 yrs to 6:04 yrs. During this period, two specific others associated with him: one specific other in the first half, another in the second half. Frequency of his joint attention behaviors showed a similar pattern with both halves. In each half, the frequency was low in beginning, increased gradually afterwards, reached peak in middle and turned for decrease. The frequency pattern of joint attention behaviors correlated to qualitative changes of relationship with specific other. It was particularly discussed why social interaction between subject and specific other, which caused low frequency of joint attention behavior in later of each half, became weak.
