Göttingen type large wind tunnel was built at Faculty of Engineering, University of the Ryukyus in March 1980. It has a 1,000mm x 1,000mm crosssectional area and 1,500mm length measuring section with the velocity range of 1 mls to 50 mis, and has a 75 KW D.C motor. As it was built as a multipurpose wind tunnel, it is possible to change the open type measuring section to the closed type, and can be used for the experiments both of the basic fluid dynamics and of the applied fluid dynamics such as mechanical engineering, civil engineering, architecture and meteorology. This report describes the specifications, performance and some characteristics of this new wind tunnel.
