The observation in summer on water environment of creek closed partly by road between Ohara and Yassa Island in the Nakama River areas was reported previously (Tokuyama & Arakaki 1990 a). Survey was done also in winter, because tidal level differs between winter and summer. The following results are obtained : 1) Chemical compositions (chlorinity etc.) of waters in mangrove areas seem to be influenced greatly by tidal level and precipitation. In the Nakama River area, tidal level is the most important for the chemical compositions of waters. Inflow of sea water into mangrove area is less in winter than in summer, because tidal level at high tide is lower in winter than in summer. 2) Since culverts were constructed at higher place than 80cm from the branch stream bed, water exchange between outside and inside of creek has become inactive. 3) It is certain that mangrove grew up in both sides of the branch stream in inside of creek before the construction of road. The authors want to propose to recommence the engineering work, that is to revise the road to a bridge, to make water exchange smooth between outside and inside of creek.
