Finite Element Analysis of Incomplete Composite Beams

The first reserch of the analysis for incomplete composite beams was conducted by N.M. Newmark in 1951. Newmark's method may be limited within the beams with regularly placed shear connectors and beams under positive bending. In the present paper a finite element method is proposed for the analysis of incomplete composite beams. The present method can be applied to beams with irregularly placed shear connectors and beams under both positive and negative bending, and a few numerical examples are shown for these beams. Computed results by the proposed method agree well with the results by Newmark's method.
