This paper examines female emigrants in Australia, represented in the book by a woman who visited to the gold diggings for the first two years of gold rush there. In Australia, female emigrants were expected to play the roles of angel in the house and God’s police to moralize and elevate people as individuals and colonial societies overall. The gold rush, however, have a detrimental effect on general social morality. This paper examines the varieties of female
emigrants and the complexities of their experience in order to discover the ways in which they constructed their live and themselves.
