One is that the Chinen Formation, which is mainly composed of calcareous sandstone or siltstone, is distributed not only in Henza Island, but also in Ikei Island off Katsuren Peninsula. The other is that the calcareous sandstone beds, which are exposed in the southwestern part of Miyagi Island and have been considered to belong to the Chinen Formation, possibly consist of the uppermost part of the Shinzato Formation in this area, and are also distributed along the northwestern coast of Ikei Island. These results with the other newly found facts could influence the discussion on the early development of the coral sea around Okinawa Island during the time from Pliocene to Pleistocene., 紀要論文}, pages = {51--55}, title = {沖縄本島中部・勝連半島沖の平安座島、宮城島、伊計島における知念層とその上下位層の岩相および層序(予報)}, year = {2005} }
