In general it is difficult to obtain the satisfactory binarization image with a single threshold, because the density of a image which was taken under the bad condition of lighting, is non-uniform. Therefore it is required that the image is divided into the small areas and each area must be set up to the different threshold. In this paper, the density of the background area is used to decide the threshold for the divided small area. The proposed technique is quite simple and we could obtain the improved binarization for the robust character image with the shading without the expense of processing speed.
