In application of this method to large scale engineering problems with complex boundaries, a first difficulty is automatic mesh generation. The present paper describes a method of two-dimensional finite element mesh generation, developed with a concept of the generation front and included in CATWAVES - Wave Analysis System: concretely, with the aid of a simple example for coastal wave-deformation, they are the ways to divide and specify a region of analysis, to generate mesh in each subregion under distribution of internal nodes, and finally to interpolate the nodal water depth. In addition, examples of particular mesh generation are demonstrated to model regions composed of coastal structures.
