Finite strain analysis carried out previously on the Kayo Formation, Kunchan Group, Okinawa-jima (Hayashi, 1988, 1989) is again examined. It is considered that most of the quartz grain markers do not have initial fabrics from the observation of the distribution tendency of long axes of initial marker ellipses. This is also confirmed by the examination with Lisle's symmetric index test and θcurve test (Lisle, 1977, 1985).
