Goats initially housed in thermoneutral environment (20°C,80%) were fed once daily with equal amounts of sudan grass hay (2cm-cut) in both environments. The digestibilities of crude protein and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) were higher in heat exposure (P<0.05). The concentration of VFA, particularly n-butyric acid, in the rumen tended to increase in beat exposure. Also, the passage rate of feeds through the digestive tract of goats tended to decrease.
