A series of picture of markers attached to the inner side walls of a soil bin apparatus were taken through acrylic resin plate at the traveling test of a wheel. The coordinates of the markers in the pictures were read by using a detecting device for plane position, and displacements of the markers and strains in the soil were calculated. The deformation analyses were carried out under the three levels of wheel weight, i.e., 20kgf, 40kgf and 60kgf with 14% slip. Typical patterns of the strain distribution at the initial sinkage without rotation were made clear, and pictorial patterens were described. Furthermore, changes of the distribution pattern accompanied with the rotation were discussed to each wheel weight.
