The results were summarized as follows : The stem flow from Ryukyumatsu (Pinus luchuensis Mayr) showed higher values in any of the above components than that from other species. The stem flow from Kobanmochi (Elaeocar pus japonicus S. et Z.) showed lower value of pH than rainfall each time we measured and was characterized by higher acidity than the other tree species. The ionic concentrations of chlorine, sulfate, calcium and magnecium were 1.74,1.64,2.35,and 2.25 times higher in the throughfall than those in the rainfall, respectively. The ionic concentrations of the stem flow were generally lower than those of the throughfall.
