In this paper, compression characteristics of Kunigami-Maaji soil are considered from two viewpoints. One of these is a diterminating method of compression index using high pressure consolidometer, and another is settlement of compacted soil by saturation during compression. The results are as follows; 1) Linear part and yield point of e-logp curve in compacted soil is situated at value more than maximum consolidation pressure in standard consolidometer.
