Ovulation was completely inhibited when cycloheximide was injected at the expected time of the endogeneous LH surge leading to ovulation. Such an inhibiting effect of the drug occured immediately before the injection of exogeneous LH. The proteolytic activities of follicles blocked by cycloheximide are statistically lower than those of follicles near spontaneous ovulation.
