In this study, the strains of AA, ICR and CF#1 mice (Mus musculus musculus) and Yonakuni mice (Mus molossinus yonakuni) at eight weeks of age were used. The mice, alloted three to five per cage, and fed no water and feed, were exposed to the following chicken incubater condition : temperature of 40℃, relative humidity of 70% and wind of 1.76m/second. 1. The average body weight of Yonakuni mice was less than one half of those of the AA, ICR and CF#1 mice at pre-expose. 2. The average survival durations of the AA, ICR, CF#1 and Yonakuni mice for male and female were 3.96,4.22,5.35,11.81 hours and 5.59,5.63,9.44,18.44 hours, respectively. As for the males, only Yonakuni mice showed a significantly longer survival time compared to other strains. Concerning with the females, on the other hand, all strain comparisons on the criterion were significant except that between ICR and AA strains. Compared to the males, the females were found to be more tolerable to the high environment temperature and they also showed larger strain differences. 3. Negative correlations within and among strains were observed in body weight and survival time. In addition, as for the analysis of covariance in body weight and survival time, strain differences of survival time for both sex were significant. 4. Decreased ratio of body weight/hr during the exposure of the mice to the high temperature was significantly smaller for Yonakuni mice compared to three other strains. 5. The survival time of F_1 mice was longer than the mid-parent value, showing a heterosis, nevertheless, the heterosis in F_2 mice was markedly decreased, while these animals having got close to the susceptible ICR mice. From these facts mentioned above, heat tolerance of mouse was found to be heritable., 紀要論文}, pages = {465--473}, title = {高温に対するマウスの生存時間の系統間比較と遺伝性(畜産学科)}, year = {1977} }
