The distance of soil particles is obtained by dividing the air-void in soil by the surface area of soil particles. The results obtained from these experiments are as follows : I. Comparing swelling pressure of silt and clay, it was found that silt has smaller values than clay in it's unit weight, but in unit surface area of particles, they have same values of swelling pressure. 2.
