Results obtained are briefly summarized in the following; (1) The best growth could be detected when Age I (not yet rooted) seedlings were grown in the medium containing both NH_4 and NO_3 as nitrogen sources. Those grown in the medium containing NO_3 exclusively came next to the above, showing somewhat retarded growth responses. Those growth in the medium with only NH_4 showed, in turn, a certain inhibition in their growth. Quite similar situation was also observed on the growth responses of Age II (rooting) seedlings. (2) In the medium containing urea as nitrogen source Age I seedlings showed definite inhibition in their growth so far as the high concentrations were used, but the growth of Age II seedlings in the same medium was fairly good, in contrast, revealing that there occurred even a more advanced promotion of growth as compared to those grown in the favorable medium containing both NH_4 and NO_3.
