Dry matter accumulation in the\\nF_1 hybrids was higher than that of the mid-parents in both hybrid combinations and it was associated with a higher number\\nof tillers and larger leaf area. Post anthesis decline in leaf area at the ripening stage was faster in the F_1 hybrids compared\\nwith the inbred parent cultivars.
