 note = {After reviewing the litertature on conceptual methaphors and presenting an analytical model of political discourse, this paper examines some U.S.-Okinawa postwar public discourese that centers on the notion of peace. If first identifies some dominant conceptual metaphors of peace(I.e.,PEACE IS JOURNEY; PEACE IS WAR) in American public discourse on postwar Okinawa. Then, along the dimensions of space, time, and modality, it deictically represents the ongnitive semantic sphere of conceptual metaphors. The analysis of metaphors reveals how peace justifies war, and how the JOURNEY-WAR metaphor is embodied in the everyday public activities of American political actors., 紀要論文},
