The perspective of \"respect for the variety of institutions\" means how much the agencies consider the characters of institutions such as their history, mission statements, and goals. Based on this point, in this paper both the policies of accreditation agencies of teacher education and the teacher education institutions' ways of responding them were analyzed. In terms of the policies, NCATE required institutions to show their own \"conceptual frameworks\" which consist of goals, missions, and so forth. Also TEAC, which is the other accreditation agency of teacher education, required institutions to set up their own \"claims\" about student outcomes based on their missions, goals, and so on.
