The study 2 purpose was to inevetigate the relationship among personality traits, social support, stress and coping using the Japanese version and compare to find whether there was any differences in relationships of these variables between prefecture Okinawa and Chiba. The participants were 3rd and 5th grade school children in Okinawa and Chiba. The results offered considerable support for the construct validity and relaibility of the BISC. The ANOVA revealed that Okinawan children reported more avoidance coping strategies than those reported by Chiba children.
