内容記述 研究概要 : 高温海水,紫外線,塩分変化などがサンゴに悪影響を及ぼし,白化させるストレス因子であることが知られている。しかし,各ストレス因子がサンゴに与える影響を定量的に解析した研究例は少ない。先の科学研究費補助金(若手研究(A))で,サンゴを長期間培養し,化学種の取り込み速度や放出速度を数値解析することができる実験システム(連続流水混合実験システム)の開発に成功した。本研究では,この実験システムを応用し,活性酸素種の一つである過酸化水素や海水温度などの環境ストレス因子がサンゴの生理活性に与える影響を定量的に解析することを目的とし,研究を実施した。実験では供給海水の過酸化水素濃度を0, 300, 3000, 30000nMと4段階に調整し,それぞれ3日間サンゴに供給した。その際,水温は一定,光量は12時間周期でON/OFFにした。研究の結果,過酸化水素0nM添加時と比べ,30000nM添加時で,石灰化の減少量は22.1-52.0%,光合成の減少量は18.6-48.0%であった。これより過酸化水素濃度上昇時,サンゴによる光合成及び石灰化が大きく阻害されることが明らかとなった。現在の沖縄本島周辺海域における過酸化水素濃度は最大で 300nM程度であるが,これ以上過酸化水素濃度が上昇した場合,サンゴの生育に大きく影響する可能性が高いと考えられる。また,沖縄の大気中には活性酸素種が多く含まれているが,海水への溶解はほとんど起こらないこと,海水中の過酸化水素濃度は,その場での光化学反応に大きく影響されることなどが明らかとなった。沿岸域では,干潮時にタイドプールができやすいため,そこでの活性酸素濃度の増加が懸念される。今後,さらに,研究を進め,タイドプールでの栄養塩濃度やその影響について調べる必要がある。
