Koreans use what is called absolute honorific system, in which those who are regarded high in that culture are referred with honorifics in any situation. However, Japanese use what is called relative honorific system, in which those who are regarded high in that culture are referred without honorifics in the presence of outsiders. Naive views prescribe that switching from Japanese to Korean honorific system or vise versa is as  simple as code-switching and simply using one over the other will solve the problem, however; this paper claims the opposite.
