In Okinawa, too, the same plan will be carried into effect in\\n1961.\\nThough this plan marks a noteworthy change in the recent Japanese education,\\nwe seem to be still theoretically uncertain of the educational effect of having\\nsuch a course as intended specially for moral education. The purpose of this\\nstudy is thus to assess the educational significance of the new plan set forth by\\nthe Japanese Ministry of Education, questioning the nature of morality, as well\\nas how moral ideas and attitudes are to be imparted.\\nFirst, the writer gives a brief history of the policies that the Ministry of\\nEducation has taken in connection with moral education since the World \u0027;Var II.\\nHe then defends the view that moral education must be the core of schooling\\nand goes on to discuss how the problems of moral education have been treated,\\nreferring to such historicaU leaders in educational thought as Plato, Rousseau,\\nPestalozzi, and Dewey.
