But recently the production decreased remarkably on the contrary to the expansion of sugar cane production. Consequently we can not depend upon the sweet potato as feed for swine production. The studies have been conducted to know the efficiency of gains made by pigs and the quality of the carcass produced, using corn, wheat bran and rice bran instead of sweet potatoes, and to obtain further information on the effect of different levels of feeds intake. In this study 8 pigs of cross breds between Landrace and Chester White were used dividing into 2 lots with the same number. Lot 1-feed was restricted in accordance with the feeding standard in progeny test of meat producing in Japan. Lot 2-feed was added 20% to the lot 1. The records were as follows. 1. Feed per 1 kilogram of gain was 4.0 kilogram in each lot. 2. Pigs in lot 1 took 133 days to gain 70 kilograms (from 22 kilograms to 92 kilograms) of body weight. The above results show that there were no difference between lot 1 and lot 2 in feed conversion, but pigs in lot 2 shortened 20 days to reach market weight comparing with those in lot 1. 4. Dressed carcass percentage was 75.7% in lot 2 and 73.0% in lot 1, showing a little higher level in lot 2.
