The total manganese contents of seventy nine soil samples from twenty four locations in southern part of Okinawa Island were determined by Jackson's method. The findings on total manganese contents are contained in table 1. (pp.150, 151) 2. The total manganese contents in soils of southern part of Okinawa Island range from :30ppm to a high of 2,588 ppm, with an average of 680 ppm. 3. Geological formations and the total manganese concentration of soils derived from them are as follows:- 4. The manganese content in soil profiles has a tendency to become lower in lower horizons than in upper ones except the surface horizon which has lower content of the element than the second horizon. These facts show the soil profiles accumulate the manganese in alkaline condition such as soils in southern part of Okinawa Island., 紀要論文}, pages = {148--152}, title = {琉球産土壌の微量要素に関する研究 2.全マンガン含量 1.沖縄島南部土壌} }
