| 内容記述 | The Lethrinidae inhabit the littoral reefs of tropical or subtropical zone in general. They are one of the most valuable food fish among spariform fish, and are numerous in species and large in quantity in the Ryukyus. Lethrinid fishes are much alike, but the changes in body shape and colouration may occur with age. These changes make it more difficult to identify the species.The present writer investigated the inner characters of this group fairly in detail,\nbut he could not find remarkable characters to secure their identification. In the present study the writer has found that the following features are important in the taxonomy of the Lethrinid fishes preserved: (1) shape of the interorbital region, (2) number of scales between lateral line and origin of dorsal fin, (3) presence or absence of molar teeth in both jaws, (4) unfading pattern, (5) proportional dimensions of the bodiIy parts. The specimens collected mainly at the islands of Okinawa, Ishigaki and Miyako were studied and idetified as belonging to the following twelve species: among them four species have not been reported from this area.\nFamily Lethrinidae\nGenus Lethrinus CUVIER\nLethrinus miniatus(SCHNEIDER)\nLethrinus nematacanthus BLEEKER\nLethrinus xanthocheilus KLUNZINGER (newly recorded)\nLethrinus variegatus CUVIER et VALENCIENNES\nLethrinus reticulatus CUVIER et VALENCIENNES\nLethrinus amamianus AKAZAKI (newly recorded)\nLethrinus harak(FORSKAL)\nLethrinus ramak(FORSKAL)=Lethrinus obsoletus(FORSKAL)(newly recorded)\nLethrinus choerorhynchus (SCHNEIDER)\nLethrinus ornatus CUVIER et VALENCIENNES (newly recorded)\nLethrinus leutjanus (LACEPED)\nLethrinus haematopterus TEMMINCK et SCHLEGEL | |||||||||
