The　performance of these　diffusers was improved by means of short flat vanes placed in the vicinity of the diffuser inlet section. The basic criteria for effective vane configurations with source-point translation were developed which indicated that the optimum pressure recovery was attained for both 30°and 40° diffusers at △θ=3°, the angle for measuring　source-point translation.
