In that investigation corrosions of reinforcing bars and cracks in concretes were mainly searched for and the causes of such deterioration were examined. The followings are found to be apparent. 1.Deterioration of concrete structures in Okinawa Island including mainly crackings of concrete due to corrosion of reinforcing bars are so wide-spread and so serious, and the rate of deterioration here are considerably more rapid than in the other parts of Japan. 2.The most main cause of the deterioration and the corrosion is effects of sea water. 3.The influence of salt contained in sea sand which is so common used in Okinawa on the deterioration and the corrosion are not obvious,since the effects of sea water are so prominent. 4.Neuralization of alkalinity in concrete due to carbonation is not responsible for the deterioration of the main parts of the structures under consideration. 5.The low quality of concrete used and poor placing and curing practice of concrete are also a main cause of the deterioration of the above. 6.Some protective measures to prevent concrete struetures from deterioration and corrosion due to sea water action must be taken in emergent necessity., 紀要論文}, pages = {19--61}, title = {沖縄の鉄筋コンクリート構造物の耐久性-現況調査と考察その1-}, year = {1974} }
