When the punch flank is chamfered largely for certain clearance, the shearing resistance is increased a little. 2) Also the backing of the blanked product is dependent on the shape of the edge tip and the clearance. When the edge tip is chamfered, the magnitude of the backing is increased. 3) The fraction of the sheared area of the cut cross section is hardly influenced by the shape of the edge tip. 4) The dimensional error of the blanked product varies with the plate thickness of the work.
