Engineering}, month = {Mar}, note = {The experimental studies of lagoon effluent treatment by water hyacinths ponds were performed by using skimmed milk as influent of lagoon, in Okinawa. The ponds were operated from July 1975 to February 1976. The over flow rate and detention periods of lagoon and water hyacinths ponds were set at 161 kg-BOD/ha・day and 3.65 days, respectively. The BOD, COD and SS removal in water hyacinths ponds were 93.3, 84.4 and 90.2 percents, respectively.
