This song has been attracted not only literary scholars but also folklorists, marine-anthropologists and biologists. And they identified the marine life spices by lyrics words, and analyzed the song structure. This essay reviews (1) the lyrics structure, (2) fishing grounds and marine lives, and (3) gender difference in fishing activities on the coral reefs. 'Pengan-ture-bushi' is, with fixed lyrics, a syllabic rhythm following syllabic meter of eight, five and seven syllables per line, and has six verses (sets of lyrics) corresponding six villages in the island. The author analyzed the sequence (time) and landscapes (space) in the song. It is clear that six villages make a circle in a counterclockwise direction (Figure 1). The gender difference in gathering or fishing grounds and marine lives is as below: Women = Inside of reef = Benthos; Men = Outside of reef = Nekton (Figure 2).
