Additionally, we can expect revitalized communities and a sense of solidarity within those communities since the establishment of such events requires the cooperation of local residents. Working under the hypothesis that areas falling under the category of hospitality – such as the degree of local engagement as well as ingenuity and enthusiasm in entertaining guests, among other things – have a significant correlation with sporting event participants’ levels of satisfaction, in this study we conducted a questionnaire survey targeting event participants and collaborators from the ECO Spirit Ride & Walk in Nanjo City (Feb. 23, 2014) and the GREAT EARTH Ishigaki Ride (Oct. 27, 2013) in order to investigate the relationship between sporting events and hospitality.Looking at the results of the free-response section, we found that event collaborators were satisfied that they could contribute to the publicity and revitalization of their community, that they enjoyed meeting many people at the events, and that they even felt delight themselves in seeing the delight of the participants. When asked about the degree to which they were satisfied with their participation in the event, over 90% of event collaborators were satisfied. It was also found that over 90% of event participants were satisfied. Moreover, almost all respondents answered that they would like to participate in the event again the following year. It was also clear from the free-response section of the questionnaire that event participants were attracted by the locally-oriented food and the fact that it was provided by local hotels and community residents.It is clear from these two case studies that areas falling under the category of hospitality, such as the engagement of locals as well as ingenuity and enthusiasm in entertaining guests, among other things, have a significant correlation on the level of satisfaction of event participants., 紀要論文}, pages = {1--20}, title = {沖縄のスポーツツーリズムとホスピタリティに関する比較研究 : 「ECOスピリットライド&ウォークin南城市」と「GREAT EARTH 石垣島ライド」における事例から}, volume = {7}, year = {2015} }
