In this research report I intended to clarify historical background of the Japanese immigrants in Cuba. According to the statistics compiled by the Ministry of Foreign Aftaires, there was no immigrant from Japan in 1924. However, based on the document discovered recently show that 168 Japanese immigrants to Cuba on the same year. An that, of them 59 immigrants were from Okinawa. It has been considered that the first Okinawan immigrant migrated into Cuba in 1919. But according to the documents, the first Okinawan immigrant entered into Cuba via Mexico in 1907.Therefore, the ceremony of the centennial anniversary of the Okinawan immigrants was held at Heron Island in October 2007. At the present time the Isseis from Okinawa have already passed away. And it has been confirmed that there are 215 OKinawan descendants ranging from Niseis to Goseis in Cuba., 紀要論文}, pages = {51--72}, title = {100周年を迎えたキューバにおける沖縄県出身移民の歴史と実態}, year = {2008} }
