The addressee is unclear. The list of contents at the beginning seem to be different to the actual contents. Also, it has the characteristics of memos kept by the Yaeyama Island Kuramoto (Administration). According to the contents, Chin Kai and others left Amoi in June the year before and arrived in Shang Dong Province (China) in December this year but suffered a shipwreck on 11 December due to strong winds . Chen Jie and Lin Gong  climbed into a waterchest and have been drifting at sea. During the process Lin Gong died of hunger and cold so Chen Jie drifted ashore Yaeyama by himself. Also, there were accounts of suspicions that Chen Jie was a Western Monk ( Christian preachers?).
