Students cut two types of wood with different thicknesses using a handsaw and photographed the work with two CCD cameras. The angle and distance of each part of the body were analyzed by motion capture using 3D coordinate measurement software.  As a result, in the case of sawing wood A (thickness 11 mm), there was no statistically significant difference between the upper group and the lower group in the maximum and minimum angles of the shoulders. But there was a significant difference between the maximum and minimum elbow angles. In the case of sawing wood B (thickness 31 mm), there was no significant difference between the upper and lower groups in the maximum and minimum shoulder angles. However, there was a large significant difference between the maximum and minimum elbow angles. Focusing on the movement of the elbow, it was found that moving the arm back and forth around an elbow angle about 90 degree is one index for improving processing accuracy. When cutting wood A, the maximum movement distance of the handsaw blade was significantly different between the upper group and the lower group, but no significant difference was observed when cutting wood B. Beginners often mistakenly recognize that increasing the stroke speed over a short range of handsaw blades allows for faster and more accurate cutting. Beginners need guidance in sawing with the entire length of the handsaw blade. There was no significant difference in the maximum movement speed of the handsaw blade between the upper group and the lower group.
