 note = {The occurrence of a little known upogebiid mud shrimp, Upogebia pugnax de Man, 1905, in Japanese waters is confirmed on the basis of five specimens from Iriomote Island, southern Ryukyu Islands. The species has been recorded with certainty only from Indonesia and New Caledonia. Upogebia pugnax is morphologically very similar to U. sakaii Ngoc-Ho, 1994, presently known only from Japan, with which it was previously confounded. Differentiating characters between the two species are reassessed. A brief overview on the Japanese species of Upogebia is given., 八重山諸島西表島において採集された標本5個体に基づき,アナジャコ科アナジャコ属のUpogebia pugnax de Man, 1905(新称：ヒメコブシアナジャコ)を報告した.本種名による日本からの記録はこれまでにもなされていたが,それらはコブシアナジャコU. sakaii Ngoc-Ho, 1994に帰されるもので,今回の記録により本種の日本沿岸での分布が初めて確認された.本種はU. sakaiiと混同されていたことが示すように,後者に形態的に酷似するが,口前部の棘の有無,尾節や尾肢外肢外縁の形状などで識別されることが指摘されていた.今回,識別形質の再評価を行い,これらの特徴に加え,第３および第4胸脚指節の屈曲縁に並ぶ櫛状剛毛の数と尾肢外肢のプロポーションにも種間で違いがあることを指摘した.さらに,本種は潮下帯に生息するが,コブシアナジャコは河口域や干潟域に主に生息するなどの生息環境の違いについても言及した.また,日本産アナジャコ属について簡単な分類学的概要を与え,現在のところ13種が記録されていることを示した., 論文},
