Participants were 330 elementary school students in Grade 4-6 (mean age = 11.0 years; 154 boys, 175 girls, and 1 gender unknown). As a result of exploratory factor analysis, we could find 4 factors (negative affective valence of failure, learning orientation, need to avoid failure, and perceived probability of occurrence of failure) like Ikeda & Misawa (2012). We examined the subscales’ (1) internal consistency, (2) test-retest reliability, and (3) correlation coefficient with selfperception scale.
