By examining the designs, online platforms, and students’ reactions, the author made an attempt to evaluate the effects of such virtual teaching/leaning compared to face-to-face classes. The three courses included English teaching methodology B and Intermediate English Seminar at University of the Ryukyus as well as a corresponding university course which also dealt with the English teaching methodology. The results showed that a simple, familiar LMS such as the Webclass was found effective and that group work with the Zoom breakout-room function can lead to a fair microteaching demonstration online.
