In 1893 Tajima took up a position at Okinawa Prefecture’s Public Middle School as a teacher. While in office, he found that there was a copy of the Aniyake-bon in the Okinawa Prefectural Office, and in 1895 made a copy of it. In 1903 when Iha Fuyu entered Tokyo Imperial University with the intention of studying linguistics, Tajima handed over all the research materials which he had gathered himself regarding the Omoro S?shi to Iha Fuyu.
