The average egg period was 16-23 days for the eggs laid during May to August 28 days for October to November, and 84 days for November to March. 2. Most of the eggs (79%) hatched from 22:00 to 4:00 a.m.. A few (21%) of them hatched during the hours from 4:00 to 22:00. 3. The average nymphal period was 60-71 days from July to October, 172-189 days from October to June, and 95-106 days from March to June. 4. The pre-oviposition period was 10-20 days. The number of oviposited eggs reached a crest during the period from 10 to 50 days after emergence of the adults. The oviposition lasted just before the death of adults which was 70 to 80 day-old. 5. The average number of eggs laid per female was 257 from March to June in 1983, 438 from August to October in 1983, 455 from March to June in 1984 and 362 from August to October in 1984. 6. The longevity of adults was 63 days on an average, ranging from 36 to 80 days. 7. Field investigations showed that the young nymphs (less than 5mm in body length) were most abundant in the population from May to July and September to October, the middle-sized nymphs (6-9mm) increased in number from June to July and November to December, the old nymphs (over 10mm) from July to August and December to March. and the adults occurred from April to May and August to September. However, all developmental stages were found throughout the year. 8. From the field surveys and laboratory breeding experiments, there is no indication for diapause in this species, and is poly-voltine cricket. 9.
