Thus, we examined whether the age of pupae was estimated using their colouration. Body colour changing of pupae was observed with both a  stereomicroscope and naked eyes, and a sequence of the colour changing was divided into 10 colour grades. Pupae from a stock culture were separated according to the grades. The pupae separated were reared and recorded the date when adults emerged.
