The results were as follows. 1) The rate of leaves damaged by the common cutworm ranged from 4.8% to 35. 3% and leaves in which larvae were found ranged from 2.1% to 35.3%. The rate of fields in which larvae were found were about 80%. It was found that larvae occured on leaves in widespread locations during June. 2) Leaves began to be damaged in May and became most during June and July. But the degree of damage to leaves became little during August and September and a little during October and November. Thereafter it became little from December till April.\\nIt thus appeared that the degree of damage to leaves were higher in early summer and lower in autumn. 3) The adult males of S.litura were caught in sex pheromone traps all the year round. The number of males became a few from January till March but began to increase in April and reached a peak during June and July. Thereafter they suddenly decreased in August but again increased from September to November. It thus appeared that the number of males showed two peaks in early summer and in autumn.
