However, watching trends of the total fertility rate in the past 30 years, national average of a total fertility rate decrease 0.66 points, but it decrease 1.17 points in Okinawa, that was most decrease in all of Japan. According to the census in 2005, the population rate of young aged 15 or less was 18.7% that was the highest in all of Japan, but it was 1.3% less than 20.0% in 2000. As showing trends of distribution of mothers by nubmer of children, the rates of mother occupied with a tertiary child was decreased from 18.1%(2000) to 17.6%(2004) , and rates of mother who have the fourth child and more decreased from 8.7%(2000) to 7.7%(2004). Ideal number of child was become less in the young couples. Judging from these, declining of births of Okinawa is concerned about in comparison with other prefectures whether it is speedy. Therefore we emphasize that it remains important to provide support for those young families who want more children and to encourage early marriage. And we need of the family program guidance that was able  to include a design of life plan and adequate contraception / childbirth / child care guidance to be able to bear the child who wanted. In addition, various kinds of statistics survey material was collated as our result of family planning survey that was performed at infant examination. Even though there were many differences in the number of the subjects and the data sampling, the investigation methods, the numerical value of our results were not so different. I think the investigation like our family planninng survey was useful for index of the cities, towns and villages unit that could grasp easily the number of the children, the number of the children according to age of mother and an the duration from marrige, the number of the ideal children, the number of the plan children, same as the large-scale birth investigation that a country performed.
