 note = {The results in 16 patients over 75 years of age or older (Group A) were compared with those of 50 patients under 75 years of age (Group B) between November 2002 and March 2005. Main outcome measures were operative time, conversion to open cholecystectomy (OC) , hospital stay, morbidity and mortality. RESULTS: The mean operative time was 91.9 min in Group A and 88.5 min in Group B. Three patients (18.8%) in Group A underwent conversion to OC because of adhesion, inflammation and CBD stones. Six patients (12%) in Group B underwent conversion to OC for the same reasons. There were no intraoperative complications. Postoperatively, 4 patients (25%) in Group A exhibited wound infection, biloma, gout, and asthma attack. In Group B, 4 patients (8%) exhibited wound infection, CBD stone and asthma attack. The mean hospital stay was 15.3 days in Group A and 8.7 days in Group B. CONCLUSION: Group A had a longer hospital stay and more postoperative complications. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy can be a safe procedure with low morbidity in patients over 75 years older., 論文},
