And we intended to compare the state of prevalence and ecology of species of nontuberculous mycobacteria with those in other districts of Japan. During the period, we have had two cases of pulmonary infection due to Mycobactenum kansasii, three cases with pulmonary infection due to Mycobacterium avium-M. intracellulare, three cases, (two of which pulmonary infection and one renal infection) due to Mycobacterium fortuitum, and two cases with pulmonary infection due to Mycobacterium chelonea subsp. chelonea.
