Fifty-one rats were divided into two groups【○!1】control group : 70% hepatectomy(group 1)and 【○!2】 experimental group : 70% hepatectomy + 90%pancreateetomy(group 2). portal glucagon and insulin level, serum transaminase, and DNA synthesis of hepatocytes (labelling index) were examined at 24, 48, 72 hours and 1 week after operation. Portal glucagon level, portal insulin level after glucose administration, and insulinogenic index in group 2 were significantly lower than those in group 1 until 72 hours after operation. Serum GOT, GPT level were significantly higher in group 2 until 48 hours after operation. The peak time of the labelling index in group 2 was 48 hours after operation, and 24 hours delayed compared to that of group 1.
