In vitro study,bupivacaine showed mixed type inhibition of hdocaine metabolism with inhibition constants being 1.38mM. Since bupivacaine did not affect cytochrome C reductase activity,this inhibition of lidocaine metabolism may have been caused by the action on cytochrome P-450.
