Articulatory function after excision of the primary tumor was assessed by using 100 Japanese syllables speech intelligibility test. In addition to this examination, a mailed questionnaire related to physical condition, what kind of foods the patients could eat, psychological condition including the gratification of cosmetic results and social relationships were examined to evaluate the quality of life of the patients. Patients with low grade of clinico-pathological malignancy showed excellent postoperative oral functions with surgical techniques involving local excision. Moreover, most patients who received more extensive partial resection also achieved moderate to excellent oral function and patients'gratification, but these were not observed in five patients with advanced cancer and ineffective results after induction chemotherapy. These results suggested that surgical procedures taking into account the effects of induction chemotherapy based on the grade of clinico-pathological malignancy would be helpful to improve the quality of life of patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the oral cavity., 論文}, pages = {217--222}, title = {[原著]口腔癌患者の術後QOLに関する臨床的検討}, volume = {17}, year = {1997} }
